How to install (sideloading)
ShakeTorch isn't on the Play Store, so you'll install it directly. This is called sideloading and it's a normal Android feature. It takes about a minute:
- Tap the Download button above (or scan the QR code). Your browser will download
ShakeTorch.apk. - If your browser warns that the file "might be harmful," tap Download anyway or Keep. (Any APK outside the Play Store triggers this warning.)
- Open the downloaded file from your notifications or Downloads folder.
- Android will ask you to allow your browser to install unknown apps. Toggle it on for this one install. You can turn it back off afterward.
- Tap Install. That's it.
First launch: open ShakeTorch once, grant the camera permission, and tap "Start service." For best results, also exempt it from battery optimization using the button on the setup screen, so shake detection keeps working with the screen off.
What it does
- Two firm shakes within two seconds toggle the flashlight, even with the screen off.
- Proximity sensor guard ignores shakes while the phone is in your pocket.
- Manual power button on the setup screen for instant control.
- Runs as a lightweight background service with a persistent notification.
